HUD ANNOUNCES NEW RESOURCES FOR ADVANCING HOUSING PROTECTIONS FOR SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, DATING VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND STALKING

On February 1, 2023, HUD published a press release announcing the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization Act of 2022

HUD has also launched a webpage, which serves as a clearinghouse for HUD’s VAWA resources.

The site features FAQs on VAWA housing protections, VAWA trainings, related forms and legal authorities, as well as referrals to direct services for survivors.

In addition, HUD published The Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization Act of 2022 Overview of Applicability to HUD Programs notice in the Federal Register on January 4, 2023 providing interim guidance to HUD’s covered housing providers on implementing VAWA 2022.

The notice includes a 60-day notice-and-comment period so that the public can comment on the contents of the notice and respond to specific questions posed by HUD concerning VAWA 2022 implementation.

The deadline for comments is March 6, 2023. Owners and managers are highly encouraged to submit comments.
